Tatizo la Mtindio wa Ubongo au Kupooza ubongo kitaalamu ni Cerebral plasy (CP), ni hali ya kupooza ya moja kwa moja ya viungo vya mwili inayotokana na sehemu ya ubongo (seli) inayotawala viungo hivyo kufa katika kipindi cha mwanzo cha maisha (Utototni).
Mtindio wa Ubongo ni aina ya tatizo la mishipa ya fahamu inayoathiri misuli ya mwili inayotokana na selli za ubongo wa mtoto kufa au kutengenezeka vibaya katika kipindi cha mwisho wa ujauzito (3rd trimester), kipindi cha kuzaliwa au kipindi cha miaka miwili ya mwanzo wa mtoto.
Hii inatoka na sehemu ya ubongo kukosa oksijeni na virutubisho vya kutosha inayopelekea celli hizo kufa. Katika kipindi cha awali ujauzito(1st trimester) mama akipata mashambulizi ya magonjwa na kipindi cha miezi ya mwisho ya ujauzito (3rd trimester) shinikizo la damu kuwa juu (Pregnancy Induced Hypertension) na kifafa cha mimba/eclampsia kinaweza sababisha usafirishaji wa damu yenye oksijeni na virutubisho kupitia kondo la nyuma kushindikana vizuri hii inaweza pelekea baadhi ya cell kwenye mwili wa mtoto aliye tumboni kufa.
Kwa utafiti uliofanyika katika hospitali ya taifa ya Muhimbili mwaka 2013 kuhusiana na sababu za watoto waliopooza ubongo, inaonesha zaidi ya 80% ya watoto wenye tatizo hilo linatokana na matatizo katika kipindi cha kujifungua.
Madhala ya ubongo kupooza huwa yanatofautiana kutoka mtu mmoja hadi mwingine kwasababu inategemeana na sehemu ipi ya ubongo iliyoathiriwa zaidi.
Kupooza ubongo(CP) kunaleta matokeo mabaya ya moja kwa moja(permanent) katika mwili wa mtoto, Kila mfumo katika mwili wa mtoto unaweza athiriwa mfano mfumo wa chakula, wa hewa, mkojo,fahamu, na wa misuli ,athari zenyewe ni kupata degedege, Kifafa, mtoto kuwa na kichwa kikubwa(macrocephaly), mtoto kuwa na kichwa kidogo sana(microcephaly), tatizo la kusikia, kuona, kuongea,kumeza pia kushindwa kutembea na kupata choo ngumu (constipation) , Pia utahila (mental retardation).
Tatizo la ubongo kupooza hakuna matibabu yake, kinachotibiwa ni matokeo ya tatizo hili yanayosaidia kubolesha maisha yao na kuwa na hali ya kujitegemea.
Katika matibabu kuna aina mbili nayo ni medical (dawa) na mazoezi(therapy).
Dawa zinazotumika mfano phenobarbitone na Carbamazepine kwa degedege na kifafa na kukakamaa (contracture,spasticity) hupewa BOTOX inayosaidia kupunguza tatizo.
Kuna therapy mbalimbali kwa watoto wenye CP, nazo ni Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy, Speech therapy n.k.
Kwa tatizo la kutoweza kutembea, watoto hawa wanaweza pata faida katika kitengo cha mazoezi(physiotherapy) mzazi anaweza kufundishwa ili kumsaidia , misuli ya mwili kupata nguvu,hupunguza kukakamaa na pia inasaidia kupata ujuzi wa kutembea n.k. Pia kuna Occupational therapy inamsaidia mtoto apate uwezo wa kula mwenyewe na kukaa.Speech therapy/kuongea, watoto wengi wenye CP huwa na tatizo la kuongea hii inatikana na misuli inayosaidia katika kuongea kuathiriwa, kuna vifaa vinavyotumika kumsaidia mtoto mwenye tatizo hili ili aweze kuongea vizuri.
Sio watoto wote wenye kupooza ubongo wana utahila (mental retardation), 36% ya watoto wenye ubongo kupooza wana utahila(mental retardation). Mtoto anaweza kuwa na tatizo la viungo ila ana uwezo mkubwa wa kufikilia.
Jamii:Kwa utafiti uliofanyika katika hospitali ya Muhimbili, inaonesha zaidi ya asilimia 30 ya wazazi wanahusisha tatizo hili na mambo ya kishirikina(superstition) Wazazi wengi wenye watoto hawa wanafanya maamuzi ya kuwaficha watoto wao vyumbani kutokana na mtazamo wa jamii husika .
Familia:Pia imegundulika kuwa ndoa nyingi huvunjika mara baada ya kuzaliwa watoto wenye CP, kati ya wanawake 100 wenye watoto hawa waliohojiwa katika hospitali ya Muhimbili 16 wanaishi peke yao baada ya kupata watoto hao, wengi wao wanadai kuwa waume zao wanawalahumu kuwa wenyewe ndio chanzo cha hao watoto.
Pia wanawake wengi hupata changamoto katika malezi ya watoto hawa, wengi wao huwatekeleza katika vyumba inayopelekea kuharibika kisaikolojia.Hii inatokana na hali ya uchumi wa familia, mama na wanafamilia wote kuondoka nyumbani kwenda kufanya ujasiliamari ili kujikimu na maisha.
